Inventum Engineering is in search of an Environmental Engineer or Geologist based out of Western New York or our Herndon, Virginia office location to provide project support for our commercial clients. Candidates with either Environmental Engineering or Environmental Geology training and experience/backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The candidate will work collaboratively with and under the supervision of our experienced site investigation and environmental remediation personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare various technical deliverables including reports, letters, memos, proposals, tables, and figures.

  • Manage data in various formats; spreadsheets, database, and electronic data deliverable formats.

  • Completion of field investigation work including soil, water, and air sampling; drilling oversight and subcontractor supervision, and coordination with analytical laboratories.

  • Manage Community Air Monitoring Program(s) and daily compliance monitoring.

  • Manage routine permit compliance monitoring including surface water sampling and reporting.

  • Observe, evaluate, and document field conditions and communicate to senior staff.

  • Interface with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory staff

  • Review, understand, and implement site-specific work plans

  • Ability to review, understand, and implement site-specific health and safety plans.

  • Construction and remedial action oversight

Job Requirements

  • The work will be both office and field related.   The candidate must be willing and able to:

  • Complete HAZWOPER training and annual refresher courses.

  • Complete pre-employment and annual medical monitoring including drug and alcohol testing.

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

  • Work outdoors on former industrial properties that are undergoing or require remedial action.

  • Ability to manage time well and work independently on tasks as part of a small or large project team.

  • Comply with work and site specific Health and Safety Plans.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of professional environmental consulting experience with a strong technical writing background and demonstrative experience in preparation of proposals, investigation/remedial work plans, and reports. Demonstrative technical writing experience may encompass Phase II ESAs, Remedial Investigation Reports, and Alternative Analysis/Feasibility Study Reports. Candidate will also have field experience in soil/groundwater sampling, environmental drilling operations, and the ability to work independently on field projects.  Candidate should have experience and familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, and the requirements of the NYSDEC BCP (or other similar state-run brownfield programs). The following experience would be considered favorably, but is not critical:

  • Experience/Training with GIS, AutoCAD, and Groundwater Modeling Software is a plus.

Education/Certifications

  • BS/BA degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline is required.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training is preferred, but the ability to complete HAZWOPER training is required.
